How much does it cost to hire the venue?

Our full price list can be found on our our Prices and Packages page. Please do contact us for special offers and to discuss how we can provide your dream day within your budget.

Can I just have my ceremony or reception at Mount Edgcumbe?

Yes you can. Our house and gardens can be hired for your ceremony and if you want to get married in one of our beautiful local churches our marquee is available for your reception.

Can you create a small, intimate setting at your venue?

Absolutely! We offer Elope packages for just two people and intimate Library ceremonies for up to 30 guests. Talk to our wedding planner about the different options available for an intimate reception.

Can I use my own suppliers?

Yes you can. Our flexible marquee reception space gives you the opportunity to create your day in your own way. So bring your own drinks, hire your own caterers and decorate the venue yourselves, if you wish. Alternatively our wedding planner can recommend some great suppliers, coordinate some or all of the event and provide a bar. The choice is all yours! Talk to us about your ideas, we are on hand to help all the way.

How much is the deposit?

We ask for a deposit of 50% of the booking total to secure your date. The balance is then payable 6 weeks prior to the wedding

Do you charge corkage?

You are welcome to supply some or all of your own drinks for your wedding. Often, however, couples choose to use our recommended suppliers to provide a paid bar and your drinks and glasses for your reception.

How many people can I invite?

Our ceremony spaces can accommodate up to 120 guests and our Marquee can sit 150 people for a formal reception.

Can we have fireworks?

Yes, professional fireworks by prior arrangement are allowed.

Do we need insurance?

We recommend that you take out private wedding insurance to cover against any loss or damage incurred during your stay. We also ask that any professional suppliers have their own public liability insurance and any electrical equipment is PAT tested.

Do you have accommodation?

Yes we have some beautiful accommodation options available to you and your guests.
There are currently three self catering cottages (with more planned for 2019) located within the grounds. These can sleep up to 12 people. We also have two wonderful Shepherds Huts, each sleeping four, with sea views, sumptuous interiors and fire pits. Accommodation starts at £98 per night. Located within a five minute drive of the park are the villages of Millbrook,  Kingsand and Cawsand offering a variety of B&Bs and self catering properties. Speak to our wedding planner to further explore your accommodation options.

What about guests travelling from Plymouth?

We have plenty of parking available within the grounds, however, if your guests travelling from Plymouth wish to arrive via the Cremyll Ferry we offer a free shuttle service from the ferry to the house. A late night Ferry can also be chartered to get everyone back to Plymouth at midnight. Speak to our wedding planner to explore your options.

When can we come and view Mount Edgcumbe?

You are welcome to come and visit us at almost any time. Our wedding planner will always endeavor to be available at your convenience and evening and weekend viewings are both fine. We do ask that you make an appointment before coming to look around the House, Earls Garden and Marquee, however you are welcome to explore the rest of the grounds at any time.

What days can we get married on?

We usually only host weddings on Fridays or Saturdays from April to September but please do speak to us if you would like a different day. From October to March weddings are available on any day. We never have weddings two days in a row so each couple has the chance to exclusively access the venue for three days.

Do we need to book the registrar?

Yes you do. The cost of the registrar is not included in the hire price. Our district is Saltash and the registration team can be contacted on 0300 1234 181. 
If you are coming from out of the area you will book with our local team but complete all your paperwork at your local registry office.
Our wedding planner can advise you on the booking process.
We also welcome celebrants, hand fasting ceremonies, blessings and vow renewals as alternatives to the civil ceremonies.

Can you get married outside?

Yes, we have a beautiful outside ceremony space overlooking the Earls Garden and Avenue as it winds down to the sea. In the event of bad weather the ceremony will be brought into the house. The final decision lays with the registrar on the day as to the suitability of the weather for your outdoor ceremony but we will have a lovely contingency space ready within the house should the decision be made with short notice.

What about music for the ceremony?

We have everything we need to provide your music for the ceremony. We also have a wonderful grand Piano available in the Drawing Room for a pianist. Other live music is also welcome.

What access do we have for setting up and clearing up?

You have access to the house from 9am on the day of the wedding. Our recommended suppliers can usually access the house the day before the wedding for providing things such as floral arrangements and chair covers. Our team are on hand to assist with arrangements on the day.

For marquee receptions we provide access from 9am-5pm for the two days prior to the wedding to give you and your suppliers plenty of time to set up. Marquee and Earls Garden access is also available from 9am on the wedding day. We ask that the premises is vacated by midnight but you are welcome to return the following day to remove all personal belongings.

Why not ask about our set up/take down service allowing you to relax, safe in the knowledge it's all being taken care of. 

I have lots of unusual ideas or lots more questions, what do I do?

No problem at all! Our wedding planner is more than happy to answer any queries either before, during or after your viewing. 
We love unique ideas and the chances are the answer will be yes! 
Whether your dream day is an outdoor ceremony followed by a picnic on the lawn with garden games followed by a BBQ marquee reception or a cosy winter wedding with mulled wine and a sumptuous banquet rounded off with a live band and dancing til midnight we have it covered. With endless options available we can guarantee you and your guests a unique day that you will never forget.
